Studies have found that hotel remotes often harbor more germs than the toilet seat. Why? Because they’re rarely cleaned between guests.

  • Wipe down remotes, light switches, and doorknobs with disinfectant wipes.
  • Or better yet, pack a remote cover or use a plastic bag as a barrier.

🔐 2. Door Locks Can Be Shockingly Easy to Bypass

Most hotel doors have basic keycard locks — and unfortunately, some can be opened with a simple tool or even a makeshift key.

✅ What to Do:

  • Always use the deadbolt and door latch when inside.
  • Bring a portable door lock or doorstop alarm for extra security, especially in budget hotels or ground-floor rooms.
