Sandra admitted she felt torn. On the one hand, she knew her husband’s world had just fallen apart. On the other hand, she could not ignore the years of emotional and financial investment she had poured into the dream cruise.

The thought of letting it go — after saving for so long, after imagining it so vividly — was more than she could bear.

“You can stay, but I won’t give this up.”

Her husband said nothing. He simply fell silent.
