Old Fashioned Banana Pudding

For the Pudding:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 2 cups whole milk (*see note below)

  • 4 large egg yolks

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • 4–5 ripe bananas, thinly sliced

  • 1 box (about 11 oz) vanilla wafers

🍌 Pro Tip: To prevent banana slices from browning, you can gently toss them in a teaspoon of lemon juice.

For the Meringue:

  • 4 large egg whites, at room temperature

  • 5 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

*A Note on Milk: For the creamiest, most luxurious custard, whole milk is essential. Skim or low-fat milk will result in a thinner, less rich pudding._
