Step 1: Prepare the Meat Sauce
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground sirloin over medium-high heat. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Drain excess fat, then stir in the spaghetti sauce. Simmer on low until ready to layer.
Step 2: Make the Cheese Mixture
- In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, and softened cream cheese.
- Add 3 tablespoons of Parmesan and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Mix until smooth and creamy.
Step 3: Cook the Noodles
- Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions (about 10 minutes).
- Drain and lay flat on a tray to cool and prevent sticking.
Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna
- Lightly grease a deep 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom.
- Layer 3 noodles, followed by ⅓ of the meat sauce and ⅓ of the cheese mixture.
- Smooth gently with a spoon.
Step 5: Add the Cheeses
- Sprinkle ⅓ of the cheddar and mozzarella over the cheese mixture.
- Add a touch of Parmesan for extra flavor.
- Repeat layers two more times, ending with noodles on top.
Step 6: Final Cheese Layer
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese, covering evenly.
Step 7: Bake
- Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
- For a crisp top, broil on low for 5–8 minutes, watching closely.
Step 8: Rest and Serve
- Let the lasagna rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
- Serve hot with garlic bread and a fresh salad.
